Sept. 3 – Healthy Relationships Day

Three great organizations, one common goal – Healthy Relationships. Talk with representatives about resources, referrals, volunteer and donation opportunities. There will be coloring books, crayons and face painting for kids. Participants include:

SARC - The Sexual Assault Resource Center - founded by two sexual assault survivors in 1977. SARC operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. A non-profit organization funded by government grants, foundations, and private donations. SARC uses the word survivor rather than victim to describe someone who has been sexually assaulted in order to reflect the person's intrinsic strength and healing capacity. Their role is to ensure that survivors get the information they need, that they are listened to, and that they are treated with sensitivity, respect and dignity. For more information about SARC's services and volunteer opportunities, visit www.sarcoregon.org or call 503-626-9100. For media inquires, please contact Sarah Cohen at scohen@pyramidcom.com/503-901-4880.

Domestic Violence Resource Center’s- founded in 1975, offering a broad range of services to survivors of domestic violence. Their mission is “to empower all individuals and families to have safe and healthy relationships”. The only non-profit provider of free and bilingual services to specifically all survivors of domestic violence in Washington County, Oregon’s most racially diverse and second most populous county. For more information about Domestic Violence Resource Center’s education, counseling and community partnership opportunities, go to www.dvrc-or.org or contact Rhonda Coakley at rhondac@dvrc-or.org or Christie Costello, christiec@dvrc-or.org or call 503.640.5352 ext. 308.

Adorned In Grace- a store where donated wedding dresses and formalwear are sold in a donated space with volunteer labor, so that all of the proceeds can benefit the victims of human trafficking. The store recently moved to Raleigh Hills Fred Meyer Marketplace location from Fairview, where it had operated for a year. The store operates under CompassionConnect, a 501(c)3 organization, and supports the efforts of Door to Grace, an organization that is preparing to open a shelter to appropriately care for teenage girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking in the Portland area.

ADORNED IN GRACE is open Tuesday-Friday from 1 to 5, and on Saturdays from 10 to 5. They accept clothing donations any time, and can give a receipt for tax purposes. For more information, go to Adornedingrace.blogspot.com.
